Life was a pastel colour, the colour of childhood sweetsDavid Foenkinos
And if we’re to see la vie en rose, why not start with wearing it? This season, we’re finally abandoning black to outline figures in colours which reflect our moods. The Coué method reveals the breadth of its palette on the catwalks, especially at Jacquemus which immerses us in a myriad of pastels in every collection.
There are no garish colours, but sleek painted looks of pale yellow, sky blue, mint green, candied pink and lilacs… These delicate tones aspire to enhance our good looks but also to highlight the last frosts of winter. A “bubble gum” mohair cold shoulder jumper will always have an effect.
The saga of pastels began in 2017 with the advent of a so-called millennial pink as acclaimed by the new generation. Its successor? Lilac, a softened purple, a symbol of spirituality, self-assertion, and the new standard of women. A colour boosted by optimism and the new hobbyhorse for the girls in Vogue.
