Denim Passion

Variations on blue jeans

They suit the pioneers of West America, the cool kids from the 90s and fashionistas – jeans are the faithful lover of happy days. Whether skinny, flare or friend, it’s a long-term love story between us and jeans. And because love is even better in a pair, we wear them with tailored denim pieces to maximise their potential.

And the creators set the tempo. If tweed is the signature material of the double C brand, Chanel is also learning that blue jeans are reinventing themselves. The idea? Inject elegance into this raw canvas with a row of pearls. At Isabel Marant, we revisit its origins, by combining the American Dream jeans with a shirt. And to relive the seventies, a turn is essential on the Celine catwalk, where the woman on the left side elegantly wears short denim culottes.

Get the total denim look

  • Choose your canvas: Do you want to mix the washes or wear the same from head to toe? A faded shirt with raw straight jeans will provide a nice contrast, while a coordinating set has a huge effect.
  • Mix’n’match: Shirt tied at the waist + skinny jeans for a casual look, unstructured jacket + baggy for street credibility, midi skirt + bustier for an off the beaten track femme fatale … We vary our combinations to make people jealous! Out of inspiration? Bet on the combination!
  • Focus on accessories: The total jean look loves golden touches (a pair of hoops and metallic boots), coloured hints (red, yellow, pink…) and prints (a wax scarf worn as a belt or a polka dot headband). Jeans can have an ultra-feminine look with red lips and pumps or a boyish look with a newsboy cap and moccasins.

You can never have too many jeans
