Lulled by Fellini films and the sewing machines in her mother’s workshop, Alberta Ferretti’s entry into the world of fashion was an obvious choice. She was just 18 when she opened her first boutique in her hometown on the Adriatic coast, then launched her eponymous label in 1974. An Italian queen with unprecedented charisma, she offered women a wardrobe where steamy dresses were worn with baroque-inspired coats. Exulting femininity with grandeur and audacity, Alberta Ferretti made her mark on the international fashion scene.
