Jil Sander studied textile engineering in her native Germany and the United States. With ‘less is more’ as her guiding principle, the young designer presented her first collection in Hamburg in 1973. Aimed at the new working girl in search of comfortable, unfussy elegance, her designs are distinguished by their clean lines, precise cuts and high-quality materials.
