Style at its peak

A carpenter by trade, Abel Rossignol made his name a benchmark in French skiing. In 1907, in his workshop in Isère, he created the first pair of wooden skis, which he decorated with a rooster. It wasn't until 1937 that Rossignol equipped Emile Allais, who went on to become world champion in alpine skiing. Other illustrious skiers such as Henri Oreiller and Jean Vuarnet adopted the brand and went on to win medals. Visionary and creative, Rossignol continues to revolutionise the world of alpine equipment.
