Golden threads

Born in Damour, Lebanon, Elie Saab created his first dresses at the age of nine. He would rummage through his mother's wardrobe for scraps of tablecloths, sheets and curtains to make clothes for his sisters. In 1982, at just 18 years old, the young designer founded his eponymous brand, combining the splendour of local craftsmanship with modern, sensual cuts. Word of his talent spread and his reputation soon transcended the borders of his native country. Between haute couture and ready-to-wear, Elie Saab enhances women with feminine, delicate and sparkling creations.
